1959 Rambler Ambassador Custom Cross Country Station Wagon - Factory AC!

Here is a RARE and Unusual, Top of the Line, 1959 Rambler Ambassador Custom Cross Country Station Wagon that is very complete, Rust Free and just needs some cosmetic and lite mechanical restoration. It has it's original 327 cu in 4bbl Engine with
Push Button Automatic Transmission and Power Steering. Most unusual and Rare is the original Factory Air Conditioning system that was rarely added in these years!

VIN - V49980
Odometer - 2735 (probably over)

The only history that I am aware of shows the car spending the bulk of its' early years in Colorado and the New Mexico before arriving in Arizona where I found it. The front license plate is a 1968 Colorado plate and the current title is a New Mexico rebuilt title.
It more than likely spent a little time in a junk yard years ago but, thankfully, was never touched. The body is truly as rock solid and rust free as you would expect a Southwestern car to be! In the interest of full disclosure, I will mention one rust spot under the right rear door sill plate. That is the only sign of any rust on the entire car. Ever! The paint finish, or what isn't baked off of it, appears original and never repainted and is in the pleasing and popular two-tone colors of Cotillion Mauve and Hibiscus Rose. The exterior stainless and anodized aluminum trim is actually bordering on gorgeous and could be easily used just as it is! The chrome on the grill is also beautiful but the car deserves to have the bumpers replated, in my opinion.

The original interior is still in place and needs replacing but will be great for patterns and correct colors. It is a real 50's appearing tri-tone Pink, White, and Black vinyl and fabric with chrome beading throughout! Fully reclining split front seats with optional headrests
and includes the original reclining backrest stops. The interior chrome is beautiful and bordering on day one finish! New taillight lenses are included as well as a nice front fender gunsight ornament to replace the broken one. The tailgate window was broken out years ago and another replacement glass was sourced and is ready to be installed. I can safely say that this car is virtually 100% complete!

This car had not been run in a number of years prior to my ownership so I went through the carburetor and with a new battery and a temporary fuel supply, I got it running for a short while. The engine sounds good with no unusual noises and it didn't smoke. There are new brake shoes, wheel cylinders, and master cylinders ready to be installed. It needs a new exhaust system and with a little additional sorting, you should have a running and driving and fun collector car! The tires are new and the radiator looks like it is rebuilt.
