Overview Of Entire Vehicle: *Condition #2 (Near Flawless Survivor)

Here is an absolutely gorgeous 1978 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Sedan that is a true survivor that does not get any better than this. This car is completely original from front to back and has been extremely well maintained and cared for since day one. It only has 31k original miles and looks like it just came off the showroom floor a year ago. We received this car out of a gentleman's estate who had owned it since 1993 and we believe it to be an original 2-owner car its entire life. It is an original Indiana car and never left Indiana until we purchased it and brought it to Arizona. It has always been garage kept though and never driven in the snow or any bad weather at all. It is completely 100% rust-free and one of the finest and well cared for cars from the 1970's that we have ever seen. It has completely all-original interior, paint, trim and chrome which all look spectacular. It has its original spare that has never even been used before with its original tag still hanging on it. The jack and toolkit and have never been used and are still in the trunk. The first aid kit has never been used and is still in its original spot as well. It is completely all stock and original and was mainly serviced at the Mercedes-Benz dealership. After we acquired it we had it checked over, serviced and it passed with flying colors. Mechanically it runs and drives excellent and everything works all the way down to the original Becker AM/FM radio. We challenge you to find a nicer one anywhere in the world. This car is ready to be put in shows and judged it is so nice and could be the crown jewel of any car collection. This car comes with all its original book and manuals, part of its original window sticker and delivery form and tons of prior registrations and receipts documenting its ownership.

Exterior: *Condition #2

This car shows absolutely beautifully and looks like it just came off the showroom floor a year ago. This car has been so well taken care of and properly maintained it is stunning. It has what looks to be all-original paint finished in Astral Silver Metallic and it looks phenomenal. It has all-original trim, chrome and lenses that are as bright as the day it was new. The glass is original and is near flawless on all accounts. This car has truly been very well cared for its entire life and has always been garage kept. Believe it or not his car looks like it has never ever seen the elements outside. It is sitting on a set of beautiful original alloy wheels with correct size and model Michelin tires. There are absolutely no flaws to speak of on the body. No nicks, chips, scratches, dings or dents anywhere. It is near flawless overall and looks fantastic. This car is completely 100% rust-free and again has never seen any bad weather. You just do not find cars like this at all and it is a truly amazing gorgeous survivor.

Interior: *Condition #2

The interior of this car is just like the rest of the car and that is mint condition. This is one of the nicest if not best original interiors we have ever seen in a 70's Mercedes. It has been very well taken care of and shows just like a true 31k mile car should. The blue leather seats are soft and supple and there is no wear anywhere in the car. The wood grain is absolutely gorgeous except for two small hairline cracks by the A/C controls. The blue vinyl doors look impeccable as does the chrome and trim inside. The rear seat is in amazing condition but on the bottom cushion it does have some foam that has deteriorated a touch but could be fixed very easily. The interior smells clean and does not have any sort of musty smell and appears to have never been smoked it. Everything works excellent in the car from the power windows, to the gauges, all the way to the original Becker AM/FM radio. It is a real pleasure sitting behind the wheel of this car and is like sitting in a time warp basically. Even the moonroof functions excellent in this amazing find. The original first aid kit is still in its original spot and has never even been removed. Inside the trunk is absolutely gorgeous and looks like it has never been used either. The original spare tire has never been used or on the ground and even has its original tag hanging on it still. As well the original jack and toolkit have never been used either. Overall this is truly one of the nicest interiors you will ever witness on a 70's Mercedes is it shows absolutely wonderfully.

Mechanically: *Condition #2

Mechanically the car is in excellent condition and only has 31k original miles on it so the drivetrain has barely even been broken in. Driving the car it drives like a dream, tight, solid and smooth just like a low mileage car should. Under the hood is as clean as can be with its original decals, hood pad and you can see it was meticulously cared for and maintained. The car even has an original OEM Merceds-Benz battery in it. From the receipt it looks like it was mostly taken to the Mercedes dealership anytime in needed serviced. We just recently had it serviced and completely gone through and everything checks out perfect. The air conditioning has been retrofitted for today's standard of R134a. The car does not leak or smoke and really just purrs like a kitten. The tranny shifts good and smooth, it steers nice and tight and it brakes great. Overall it is in amazing condition and a real pleasure to drive.

Under Carriage: *Condition #2

The underside of this car is extremely clean and although it is an Indian car it looks like a southwest car. It looks like it hasn't been driven in any bad weather at all, it is dry as can be with not a speck of rust anywhere. The suspension is super clean and dry and it still even has its original rubber plugs in the floor pans. This car needs absolutely nothing and is ready to go and to be enjoyed and be shown off.
